What is the difference between Estuary and Delta

The rivers originate from the mountains and flow from the plain to rift valley when it drains its water into the sea or any other watercourse either they form estuary or delta. Delta is formed by the sediment of the river that is brought by river, whereas those rivers have tidal tendencies form estuary where it meet the sea. Here, we are giving brief note which will be helpful for understanding the differences between difference between Estuary and Delta.

The features of estuary and delta are determined by a region's geology and influenced by physical, chemical, and climatic conditions. The rivers that have a large catchment area, flows through longer distance and carry sediment which are not rapidly carried by ocean wave makes delta which is also one of the landform. Whereas Estuary is formed by those rivers which have the shortest catchment area, flows from rift valley and drains its water directly to the sea or ocean and any other form of the watercourse. The old civilizations were formed along river valleys and deltas due to its fertility. Many important port towns are located on the estuaries and they make excellent harbours and fisheries.
